THE SITE VISITS
Upon registration and for a limited number of participants, on the afternoon of Day 2 of the conference, we will organise 2 site visits: ALBA Synchrotron research laboratory and Idiada Technical Centre and their battery testing facilities. Please check the agenda for more details.
THE WORKSHOP
By 2030, over 100,000 tonnes of EV batteries must be handled. This mammoth task will require innovative solutions and partnerships. Both experienced industrial leaders and emerging start-ups are navigating this dynamic field, searching for the most viable business models.
On 27 November, BID attendees will have the chance to address this challenge through the Battery Circularity Game organised by our supporting partner Bax.
Using an engaging roleplay format, participants will take on the roles of various stakeholders in the battery circularity ecosystem. Armed with financial resources and more, participants will negotiate with other stakeholders to find solutions to their circularity challenges.
THE BATTERY YOUNG RESEARCHER AWARD
This award honours academic excellence in battery research and recognises PhD students' scientific advancements in the field. The award is organised within the framework of the Battery Innovation Days on 26 & 27 November 2024 in Barcelona, Spain, where the winner will be invited to present their thesis.
What is the price?
A dedicated session where the candidate will have a speaking slot to present their thesis
A free ticket to the full event

The deadline for submissions was 1 July 2024. Our jury is analysing applications and selecting a winner.
OUR CO-ORGANISERS
The European Batteries R&I Community is the tagline describing four initiatives collaborating in the battery sector; Batteries Europe, Battery 2030+, BEPA and the two IPCEI. What makes these initiatives a community is their joint mission to drive European research and innovation in the field of batteries. Their mission is concretized in the co-organisation of activities, events, official statements and the joint publications.
Batteries Europe is an open and inclusive platform that aims to represent the entire battery value chain from various fields in research, business and academia. Batteries Europe aims to strengthen the synergies and complementarities among initiatives and EU projects within and beyond the European battery ecosystem.
Battery 2030+ is a European research initiative that brings together stakeholders in the field of battery research creating a generic toolbox for transforming the way we develop and design batteries in Europe called the BATTERY 2030+ research roadmap. The overall objective is to address the key challenges in inventing the sustainable, safe, high-performance batteries of the future.
BEPA gathers the European battery community to provide input and advice to the European Commission on identifying priorities of research and innovation activities. The mission is the development of a strong, competitive and sustainable battery value-chain in Europe.
IPCEI It’s a transnational project focusing on growth, employment and competitiveness of the European Union industry and economy funded by state aid. IPCEI has been implemented to promote battery production.
