Every Voice Makes All The Difference
The Communicating Diversity Conference is an annual conference for students interested in issues of diversity. The conference is hosted by the Climate and Inclusion Committee of the Department of Communication at Texas A&M University.
The theme for the 2022 conference is “Beyond Tolerance.” The word tolerance means the ability or willingness to tolerate something, in particular the existence of opinions or behavior that one does not necessarily agree with. And yet, we have been asked to set the bar at tolerating each other, our communities, and our situations. In the last few years, we have seen a global rise in pressure and resistance for tolerance. We hope our conference can serve not only as a space to showcase work about analyzing or going beyond tolerance and those things tolerated, but as a space to dialogue and recognize the trials of intolerance. We will promote topics that bring to light how far we've come, shortcomings, new approaches, and where we must go.
Please consider attending our conference to hear and engage with the brilliant ideas our student scholars will be discussing. We are also excited to welcome everyone to attend our keynote speaker session, led by the wonderful Dr. Shinsuke Eguchi.
