The Fred Wells Tennis & Education Center, affectionately known as The Fort, opened in 2002, and since then, has been intentionally breaking down barriers to participation. As the largest public tennis facility east of the Minneapolis/St. Paul International Airport, we offer some of most affordable courts and junior and adult tennis programs in the Twin Cities.  

Our mission is, “We bring people together of all ages, abilities and backgrounds to embrace the lifelong game of tennis while serving under-resourced youth with the support of the community.”

At the heart of our mission is our FREE TennisWorks program – our youth development continuum supporting under-resourced youth in grades 3-12. TennisWorks aides in developing critical social and emotional skills such as goal setting, self-confidence, communication, self-control, time management, teamwork and developing a growth mindset through tennis.
