The Pass the Pen scholarship fund sprung from the success of Moonstone's latest program, New Voices: Philadelphia's Emerging Poets. The New Voices series invites anyone under the age of 25, no matter experience or skill level, to explore and enhance their writing through monthly readings and to partake in the publication of a biannual chapbook.
High school juniors and seniors are invited to apply for the Pass the Pen scholarship by submitting their work to the upcoming spring New Voices anthology. Moonstone hopes to raise $10,000 for the fund, which recipients will use to attend a writing workshop of their choice. Attending a workshop is an invaluable experience for growing writers who have the passion and drive to improve their work.
We ask of those who are not eligible to apply for the scholarship to take this opportunity to donate to the fund—to pass the pen into the hands of eager young writers who wish to further their creative passions. The best way to make a difference is to get involved in your community—so join Moonstone in giving back to the future of Philadelphia's poetry scene this GivingTuesday, December 3. Be on the lookout for ways to donate and apply to the Pass the Pen scholarship fund!
