The Oakland Student Showcase is an opportunity to bring together the Khoury College of Computer Sciences community and Bay Area partners to celebrate our students' work and connect with industry partners aligned with Khoury's mission of Computer Science for Everyone. The event will begin with a student poster session highlighting student research and project-based coursework. Light appetizers and refreshments will be served.

The Student Showcase will take place on April 16, 2025, 5pm - 7pm PST at Lisser Hall, on the Oakland campus. Following the poster session, there will be a presentation of student poster awards, followed by a panelist discussion and audience Q&A.

Panelists:

Maria Kazandjieva, Engineering Leader at Figma

Maria recently joined Figma where she leads several engineering teams that bring new AI experience to the Figma Design product. Prior to that, Maria built from scratch and led Engineering at Graft, a startup dedicated to empowering non-technical users with machine learning and AI tools. Maria also spent 7 years at Netflix, where she worked on a variety of video playback projects, two of which were honored with technical Emmy Awards. In her spare time, you can find her snuggled with a cat and a good book or running on one of the many beautiful trails we have in the Bay Area.

Adriana Porter Felt, Director of Engineering at Google

Adriana is a Director of Engineering at Google, where she leads Chrome’s AI Experiences team. She’s a long-time Chrome team member, having originally started as a security researcher. Over the years, she has founded and managed many Chrome teams. She is best known externally for her work on moving the web to HTTPS, earning her recognition as one of MIT Technology Review’s Innovators Under 35. Adriana holds a PhD from UC Berkeley, and most of her academic publications are on usable security for browsers and mobile operating systems. Adriana is on the board of Second Harvest of Silicon Valley, a large food bank that serves 400-500k people monthly in Santa Clara and San Mateo counties.

Gabriela de Queiroz, Director of AI at Microsoft

Gabriela de Queiroz is the Director of AI at Microsoft, where she helps founders build and scale AI products, connect with customers, and grow their visibility. She brings a unique blend of deep technical expertise and hands-on startup experience, having worked at multiple early-stage companies leading data science efforts, driving product experimentation, and scaling operations. Before joining Microsoft, Gabriela held executive roles at IBM, where she led AI strategy, innovation, and open-source initiatives. She is also the founder of R-Ladies and AI Inclusive, two global organizations focused on increasing diversity in tech. Gabriela is passionate about democratizing AI and empowering the next generation of tech leaders.
