The theme of our 2023 virtual provincial conference is We Raise Each Other Up: ECEs building leadership and learning communities of joy, curiosity and hope. In this conference, we strive to reaffirm and reclaim our roles as educators, learn from each other, and center the voices of educators through knowledge sharing and learning. ECEs will build leadership and learning communities to create spaces that celebrate educator joy, curiosity, and focus on finding hope in the strength of each other and our work. It will be an opportunity to share and learn from each other’s stories, learn through connection and collaboration, raise each other up, and support each other in exploring ways to re-think, unlearn, and disrupt the status-quo.

The conference aims to enable early years professionals to:

  • explore, present and exchange their knowledges, experiences, ideas and aspirations;
  • foster an emerging community with other early years professionals concerned with social justice issues;
  • take the impassioned early years community and provide the tools to imagine and transform the sector into an active space of resistance to structures of oppression; and
  • to create a space where “We Raise Each Other Up” through centering the voices and stories of early years professionals.

We know we need our community partners to help create a sector that everyone can thrive in - all are welcome to attend the conference.

We are truly excited to welcome you at the conference!

Access to the conference

This year’s conference will happen entirely virtually via Accelevents. After registering, look through the agenda and reserve your spot in Saturday's Regular & Workshop sessions by bookmarking them as soon as possible. There is a maximum capacity for some sessions and we anticipate them to fill up quickly. You do not need to bookmark Main Stage Sessions, i.e. Opening ceremony, Keynote panel, and Closing ceremony. Bookmarking is only for Saturday's Regular and Workshop sessions. Ensure that you bookmark one session per time block.

The AECEO is committed to ensuring that our learning experiences are accessible to all educators; including educators with disabilities, whether visible or invisible. We believe that taking care to create a learning experience where no person's voice, spirit, or knowledges are lost because they are unable to attend, benefits everyone. ASL-English interpretation and live closed captioning will be available for Main Stage sessions. Please contact info@aeceo.ca by April 17th for access requests.

If you have any technical issues during the conference, please ask the AECEO staff at your session.

Presentation formats

Regular Presentation: A regular presentation is a session with one or more co-presenters. Each regular presentation will include presentations and a Q & A.

Workshop: A workshop presentation is a session that has more “doing” rather than “listening” compared to a regular presentation. The key difference between a workshop and a regular presentation is the hands-on element. In addition to discussions, workshops may involve group exercises, activities, and the practical applications of concepts learned. Presenters will facilitate a workshop, inviting attendees to practice their skills or learn new ones.

Salon: A salon is held by an inspiring host, where people are invited to gather together to think, converse, and share ideas around a particular topic. Salons are a place for exchanging ideas, receiving and giving feedback, and sharing intellectual, interdisciplinary work. Our salon hosts invite attendees to engage in conversation and discussion around a guiding topic, subject, or questions. As the emphasis is on interaction and collaboration, there will be no formal presentation, but the host may choose to display brief information via PowerPoint or similar to initiate and guide the discussion.

Gallery: We invited our gallery presenters to include digital, poster and/or creative formats for this submission and received a diverse range of work. We have posters, videos, multimedia pieces and visual art exploring the conference theme!
We encourage you to attend our gallery on all three days of the conference, and engage with gallery submissions virtually, offering comments, questions, and feedback.
