The Supportive Supervision workshop is a four-part series designed to be incorporated as part of an agency’s trauma informed continuum. The workshop combines supportive supervision techniques with trauma informed knowledge and practices. The goal of this training is to assist agency leadership in ensuring supervision at their agency is a place where staff feel comfortable: being vulnerable, sharing information and feedback, and learning new skills. The result of supportive supervision is often greater staff satisfaction, improved agency atmosphere and culture, and increased staff retention.
After participating in this workshop, participants will be able to:
• Develop healthy boundaries with direct reports and other agency staff,
• Understand the role that clear communication plays in supervision,
• Recognize and incorporate the natural strengths of staff through supervision,
• Use goal setting and goal clarification to increase staff satisfaction,
• Model appropriate self-care to staff,
• Identify the difference between active and passive learning,
• Increase opportunities staff development through active learning, and
• Respond appropriately to challenges with staff.
Supportive Supervision takes place over 2 months with 2 trainings each month and homework for the staff to complete in the interim. Each day of training is 4 hours long.
