2026 Region V SSAO/AVP Retreat

SSAOs and AVP equivalents are invited to participate in the 2026 NASPA REGION V & VI SSAO-AVP RETREAT to share ideas and discuss key issues. The retreat offers an intimate setting to address contemporary topics and also to network with regional colleagues.
This event is intentionally scheduled at the end of the academic year to provide time to reflect on the year and interact in a safe setting with a knowledgeable and experienced group of colleagues. The format for this retreat is informal and builds on issues and topics identified in advance by the participants.

Learning Outcomes
Attendees will gain critical insights into emerging research and practice that redefine traditional student success metrics. Participants will evaluate and adapt student-centered models that integrate high-impact practices, data-informed decision-making, and holistic support systems to enhance academic and co-curricular outcomes.
Through interactive sessions and case-based learning, participants will develop the competencies needed to lead and participate in cross-campus partnerships. The focus will be on leveraging collaborative governance, interdepartmental alignment, and stakeholder engagement to scale institutional transformation.
Participants will analyze real-world change management scenarios and identify strategies for navigating organizational complexity. By the end of the conference, attendees will be prepared to lead adaptive change efforts aligned with institutional mission, strategic planning processes, and evolving student needs.
Attendees will refine their ability to communicate across lines of difference with cultural competence and clarity. Emphasis will be placed on storytelling, inclusive language, restorative dialogue, and framing messages that resonate with diverse campus communities and external stakeholders.
