Description

The University of Kansas (KU) Department of Communication Studies and KU School of Professional Studies Organizational Communication Graduate Program invite organizational communication graduate students to submit to the 34th annual Organizational Communication Mini Conference (OCMC). This live-virtual event will be online only this year and will occur October 23rd and 24th, 2021. As usual, OCMC will be free to attend. Presentations will occur in two formats either a 10-12-minute presentation or a pre-recorded lightning (1-2 minute) poster pitch.

As always, OCMC is intended to be a place where emerging organizational scholars, especially soon-to-graduate students, can share cutting-edge ideas which will shape and advance the field. We invite anyone interested in cutting-edge organizational communication research to attend. Though our event is virtual, like past OCMCs, our conference will invite all participants to the single-stream of panels presentations, and will include many opportunities for social interaction. Here is a brief summary of the major highlights:
  • Registration is FREE and no travel cost!!!
  • It is all about supporting student work—get real time feedback from supportive senior scholars
  • All you need to submit for consideration is an abstract
  • Research presentations are reserved for graduate students’ dissertations/theses or related work in organizational communication
  • A single-track format means that everyone hears every presentation and can learn from all feedback offered on student work.
  • No Zoom fatigue here – beyond formal presentations, we’ll leverage technology to provide meaningful online interactions among students and scholars, and time to connect with peers as well.

If you have any questions, please email the 2021 OCMC Committee directly at: ocmc2021@ku.edu
