Mental Health & Wellbeing
Conferences are exciting but can also be overwhelming. Taking care of your mental and physical health ensures you get the most out of your #NASPA27 experience.
Plan Your Schedule Mindfully
Don't book yourself back-to-back. Schedule time between sessions to decompress, reflect, and recharge. It's okay to skip a session if you need rest. Quality engagement matters more than quantity. Identify quiet spaces in the convention center where you can step away from the crowd when needed.
When moving between event spaces later in the day, consider traveling with a buddy or sharing your location with others.
Stay Fueled & Hydrated
Bring a reusable water bottle to stay hydrated throughout the day. Pack healthy snacks like granola bars, nuts, or fruit to maintain your energy between sessions. Don't skip meals. Fuel your body and mind for optimal conference engagement.
Tip: Set reminders on your phone to drink water and take short walking breaks throughout the day.
Physical Safety
For full guidance on attendee safety, including badge protocol, traveling to National Harbor, and what to do if you feel unsafe at any time, visit NASPA's Guidance for Attendee Safety at Events.
A few #NASPA27-specific notes:
During the Conference
Badge Protocol: Wear your attendee badge at all times within the Gaylord National Resort & Convention Center. Your badge allows you access to conference spaces and events. Be aware that the venue is shared with other hotel guests and events.
Remove your badge when leaving the venue to avoid identifying yourself as a visitor.
Use the buddy system. Walk with colleagues, especially after hours or in unfamiliar areas. If you feel comfortable, share your location with someone you trust. If you feel unsafe at any time, connect with NASPA staff immediately. Our team is here to help support your safety and wellbeing throughout the conference.

Conference Essentials
What to Pack
Layered, comfortable clothing: conference spaces vary in temperature. Pack comfortable outfits that allow for layering. Most attendees wear business casual attire across the spectrum of styles.
Comfortable footwear is essential. You'll be on your feet a lot, so prioritize comfort over style.
Business cards: bring physical cards or be prepared to share digital contact information for networking opportunities.
Essentials: phone charger and portable battery to keep devices powered throughout the day, plus a comfortable bag for carrying materials, water, snacks, and conference swag.
Download the NASPA Events App
Your conference companion. The NASPA Events app is updated daily with the full session schedule and descriptions, interactive venue maps, attendee networking features, real-time announcements and updates, and your personalized schedule.
Tip: Download the app before you travel and explore the schedule in advance to plan your must-attend sessions.
Ride Share Services
Use verified rideshare apps like Uber or Lyft for safe transportation. Always verify the driver, vehicle, and license plate before entering. Share your trip details with a friend or colleague.
Stay Connected
WiFi is not guaranteed outside the convention center, so consider downloading offline maps and key information before you go. Check with your mobile carrier about coverage in National Harbor. Screenshot important addresses, confirmation numbers, and schedules to access without internet.
